A 41-year-old man from Tondo, Manila died after being struck by a glass bottle.

According to a report by TV5's 'Frontline Pilipinas Weekend,' the victim was in critical condition due to a cut on his thigh.

He was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention, but the wound was too severe, leading to his death.

Based on the investigation, it was revealed that the victim had confronted a group of minors who were gathered outside their home.

The parents of the minor suspect voluntarily surrendered their son to the authorities. He is now in under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

In the Philippines, if a minor under 18 years old kills an adult, the case is treated differently compared to when an adult commits the same crime.

If the minor is 15 years old or below, they are exempt from criminal liability under the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (Republic Act No. 9344).

Instead of going to jail, they are turned over to social workers and placed in intervention programs such as counseling and rehabilitation.

If the minor is older than 15 but below 18, and it is proven that they acted with discernment—meaning they understood that what they did was wrong—they may face criminal charges, but they are still not jailed with adults.

Instead, they are sent to a youth rehabilitation center managed by the government. In some situations, the court may allow early release if the minor shows signs of reform while inside the center; otherwise, they can be held until they turn 21.

Parents or guardians of the minor may also face civil liability, such as paying damages to the victim’s family, depending on the decision of the court.

Each case is assessed individually based on the age of the minor, the circumstances of the crime, and whether the minor acted with intent or awareness.

In a previous report by KAMI, a family of three was mercilessly shot and killed inside their store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. Caught by CCTV, three men entered their store, closed the roll up door, and shot the entire family to death. Before fleeing, one of the suspect even grabbed a bag and mobile phone from the suspects. In a report by Gary De Leon of TV 5's 'Frontline Pilipinas,' the family started getting threats after lending P1-M to one of the residents of their barangay; allegedly using the money for business.

In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
