According to authorities, Rensales had just cast his vote at the Oas South Central Elementary School around 6 a.m. and was waiting for his wife, who was still in line, when he began feeling dizzy.
Moments later, he collapsed and lost consciousness.

Rensales, a stroke survivor, had lined up early at around 5 a.m. despite the summer heat.
His wife, Juana Rensales, recounted that she advised him not to go due to his health condition, but he insisted.
Sabi niya, kaya ko pa man aniya bumoto. Sayang ang boto, kaya nakapaboto pa siya,” she shared.
She also noted that the delay in voting—because teachers serving in the election were prioritized—caused him to wait longer than expected, which may have worsened his condition.
“Palagi kaming maaga... Ayaw pa naman nun maghintay dahil naiinip, saka yung init nga,” she said.
He was rushed to the Josefina Belmonte Duran Albay Provincial Hospital in Ligao City but was pronounced dead on arrival.
