Three days after the tragic crash at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 that claimed the lives of two passengers, the 47-year-old SUV driver involved has yet to speak publicly.

On Monday, the driver underwent online inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.

He is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in two counts of homic&de, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property.

In the absence of a private lawyer, the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) has taken over his legal representation.

However, the driver has remained silent, offering no explanation for the fatal incident.

“Basta nag-rely na lang ‘yong ating lawyer doon sa documents na pinadala sa kanya. Basta ang sagot lang daw niya is mental block. ‘Yon lang daw ang sinagot niya sa lawyer natin, wala na,” said Atty. Revelyn Ramos-Dacpano, Regional Public Attorney and Head Executive Support Staff of PAO-NCR.
“Hindi naman natin siya pwedeng i-force to talk kung mental block nga siya or ano. Hindi natin alam ang rason niya kung bakit mental block ang sinasabi niya,” she added.

The SUV’s owner has yet to coordinate with PAO. According to the Aviation Security Unit, the driver had just dropped off his employer at the airport before the crash.

“Walang sinabi kung anong klase siya, basta hardware driver siya,” Dacpano explained.

“Hindi naman tayo p'wedeng mag-assume kung ‘yong hardware ba ay pagmamay-ari no’ng may-ari no’ng SUV.”

In a previous report by KAMI, the Land Transportation Office has already taken action on the driver of the SUV that rammed people in NAIA Terminal 1. On their Facebook page, the agency said they put the driver's license on preventive suspension for 90 days while investigations are still ongoing. It can be recalled that the SUV suddenly accelerated, resulting in 2 casualties and a couple of people injured. An SCO has already been issued against the registered owner of the SUV and the driver involved in the tragic incident.

Additionally, the Overseas Filipino Worker, father of the 5-year-old girl victim in the NAIA Terminal 1 incident yesterday, has no longer proceeded to leave the country. In a report by GMA 7's 'Unang Balita,' he and other family members went to a Pasay funeral facility where the initial processing of the deceased victims was made. The OFW father of the girl victim personally took his daughter's remains and will be bringing them to Lipa City, Batangas.
