The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has pledged full support and assistance to Danmark Masongsong, the Europe-bound Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) whose four-year-old daughter was tragically killed in the NAIA Terminal 1 incident that has since stirred buzz on social media.

As reported by Inquirer, the DMW released an official statement on Monday, May 5, outlining the steps the agency has taken to aid the grieving father and his family, who are at the hospital.

"The DMW and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, as directed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and in coordination with the Department of Transportation and the New NAIA Infra Corporation, have commenced providing the necessary assistance and support to the bereaved OFW, his injured wife and mother," the official statement of the DMW read in Inquirer's report.

In addition to emotional and logistical support, the department also acknowledged the potential professional repercussions for Masongsong, who was scheduled to work abroad in Europe.

"The Department also stands ready to assist the OFW in terms of explaining his absence from work to his current overseas employer," the DMW added in their now-viral official statement.

The accident occurred early on Sunday, May 4, when, according to GMA News, a black SUV rammed into the departure area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), killing two people—one of them being Masongsong's young daughter, which has since made headlines.

Following the tragedy, ABS-CBN News reported that the remains of the four-year-old child have been brought to Lipa City in Batangas, with Masongsong talking about his wife and child.

In the same report, he revealed that his wife, who is still recovering at St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City, is unaware that their daughter has passed away after the tragic incident in NAIA.

"Hindi pa po niya alam na wala na iyong anak namin. Nakakalungkot po. Talagang mahal na mahal ko po iyan. Kaya po ako nag-ibang bansa para sa kanilang dalawa. Tapos ganto yung mangyayari," he told the media.
