A 37-year-old tricycle driver in Antipolo City tragically died in a self-inflicted accident on Sunday evening while attempting to overtake another tricycle.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 PM along E. Rodriguez Avenue in Barangay Dalig, according to initial reports.
The driver, whose identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin, was traveling along the road when he allegedly tried to pass another tricycle.
During the overtaking maneuver, he reportedly lost control of his vehicle. The tricycle veered off course, colliding with the side of the road with significant force, causing it to overturn.

The driver was subsequently trapped underneath the overturned tricycle, sustaining critical injuries.
Residents in the vicinity reported hearing a loud crash at the time of the accident. Upon rushing to the scene, they discovered the driver lying injured and bleeding, pinned beneath the heavy tricycle.
Responding swiftly to the emergency, the Antipolo City Rescue team arrived at the location.
Paramedics assessed the driver's condition and determined that he had suffered severe head trauma as a result of the accident.
He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. However, despite the efforts of the medical personnel, the tricycle driver was declared dead on arrival.
The Antipolo Police have classified the incident as a “self-accident,” indicating that no other vehicles were directly involved in causing the tricycle to overturn.
The force of the impact was substantial, leading to significant damage to the tricycle itself.
The windshield was shattered, and the roof was severely dented. Additionally, a nearby traffic signage was damaged, and the tricycle also struck a power pole as it careened off the road.
