The bus driver of Solid North involved in the multiple-vehicle collision along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) on May 1 has tested negative for illegal drugs, according to PLt. Col. Romel Santos, Chief of Police of Tarlac City, as per the report of ABS-CBN News.

Despite the negative drug test result, the driver remains in police custody and is already facing multiple criminal charges, including reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property.
The accident occurred in the morning of May 1 and resulted in several fatalities and multiple injuries.
Initial investigations revealed that the bus was traveling at a high speed before colliding with several vehicles along the expressway in Tarlac.

While drug use has been ruled out, authorities continue to investigate other possible contributing factors to the crash, such as the vehicle’s condition, the driver’s fatigue level, and road conditions at the time of the incident.
PLt. Col. Santos emphasized that the police are committed to helping the victims and their families seek justice.
He also called on transport companies to ensure their vehicles and drivers are fit for operation to prevent similar tragedies.
The authorities are closely monitoring the situation as legal proceedings against the bus driver continue.
