The crash claimed the lives of two individuals, including a 5-year-old girl who had gone to the terminal to bid farewell to her father, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
The incident, captured on CCTV, showed the SUV initially in a parking slot before surging forward at high speed.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon earlier stated that based on initial CCTV review, the crash appeared “unintentional.”
A video of the grieving OFW father, taken by journalist Raoul Esperas and shared by K5 News FM, showed him wailing in pain at the terminal, assisted by police and airport security.
In response to the tragedy, San Miguel Corporation has committed to covering all expenses for the victims of the fatal crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, while Gonzales remains in custody.
