A tragic vehicular collision in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, has claimed the lives of two individuals and left two others injured.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 PM on Saturday, May 3, 2025, along the Circumferential Road in Hacienda Tibay Lopez, Barangay Efegenio Lizares.

The accident involved a Ford Ranger pick-up truck and a tractor-head truck.

The driver of the pick-up, identified as Nilo Epanto Domingo, succumbed to his injuries early the following morning, Sunday, May 4.

Another passenger in the pick-up, Ronjun Caballero, who was seated behind the driver, was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

A third occupant of the pick-up truck, Paul Simon Puertillano, sustained injuries in the collision and is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.

His condition remains under observation as he recovers from the accident.

The driver of the tractor-head truck, identified as Galy Antipatian, 50 years old and a resident of Barangay Paraiso, Sagay City, also sustained injuries and is hospitalized.

His condition is also being monitored by medical professionals.

According to Police Major Rhazl Jim Jocson, the Deputy Chief of the Talisay City Police Station, the tractor-head truck, which was reportedly unladen, was traveling towards Bacolod City.

The Ford Ranger pick-up truck, carrying the three victims, was heading in the opposite direction.

Initial investigations conducted by the Talisay City Police indicate that the tractor-head truck attempted to overtake another vehicle.

During this maneuver, the driver allegedly lost control of the truck, leading to the head-on collision with the oncoming pick-up truck.

The force of the impact resulted in the immediate fatalities of Caballero and the severe injuries to Domingo, who later passed away.

The authorities are continuing their investigation to gather more details about the circumstances surrounding the crash.

This includes examining the exact location of the incident, potential eyewitness accounts, and any available vehicular data to determine the precise factors that contributed to the tragic accident.
