A 2-year-old boy survived the tragic accident that happened yesterday at the SCTEX Toll Plaza (northbound).

In a report by GMA 7's 'State of the Nation,' the boy's family was inside one of the vehicles involved in the crash, and they were supposed to be on their way to a vacation in Baguio.

All the tests done on the boy reportedly came out normal, but the hospital still advised the family to transfer him to a hospital closer to home for further observation.

According to the same report, the young boy kept asking for his mother, who sadly died in the accident along with his father.

A family member has already arrived at the hospital where the boy was rushed to. The family still couldn't believe what had happened to their family members.

According to the initial report of Philippine Red Cross on their Facebook page, the accident included three SUVs, a container truck, and a Solid North passenger provincial bus.

According to Police Lt. Col. Romel Santos, chief of the Tarlac Provincial Police Office, said that the bus driver of the Solid North provincial bus had fallen asleep while driving.

In a previous report by KAMI, Police Lt. Col. Romel Santos, chief of the Tarlac Provincial Police Office, said that the bus driver of the Solid North provincial bus had fallen asleep while driving. It can be recalled that the tragic incident happened at around 12:18, according to the Philippine Red Cross' Facebook page. At first, 12 casualties were reported, however, Santos made a correction, saying the death toll was only 10 individuals. According to investigations, there were 8 people dead and one injured from the van; meanwhile, 2 were dead and one was injured from the compact SUV.

Prior to this report, 12 people reportedly died from a scramble of five vehicles at the SCTEX Toll Plaza (northbound). According to a Facebook post by the Philippine Red Cross, the tragic incident happened at around 12:18 PM today. The vehicles involved in the scramble were 3 SUVs, one container truck, and one Solid North passenger provincial bus. Based on the initial report by the Tarlac Provincial Hospital, eight people died while 28 others were injured.
