A girl was discovered lifeless in a swampy area filled with water spinach in Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro.
Some residents shared that they heard someone calling for help early yesterday morning.
When a concerned individual went to check the area, they came across the girl's lifeless body
Police said the victim was believed to be between 12 to 17 years old.

They also found a neck wound on the victim's body, according to a report by GMA 7's 'Balitanghali' courtesy of GMA Regional TV.

Currently, a man holding a machete who left the place is being considered a person of interest by the authorities.
Before the incident happened, the victim and the man was seen in the area and they introduced themselves as a couple.
Authorities are now looking for the said man. They are also working on to know if the victim had relatives.
In the Philippines, "person of interest" refers to someone who may have information about a crime or may be possibly connected to it, but is not yet officially charged or arrested. Authorities may want to question this person further as part of the investigation.
