A day meant for fun turned into tragedy when two minors were stung by a jellyfish while swimming at a resort in Camarines Sur.

According to a report by "24 Oras" of GMA News, witnesses saw one of the victims lose consciousness even before rescuers could pull him out of the water.

Despite efforts to save him, he was later declared dead on arrival.

The second minor was quickly taken to the Bicol Medical Center for treatment.

As of now, police authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.

They have also advised the resort management to issue a warning to all visitors regarding the presence of jellyfish in the swimming areas to prevent future tragedies.

Netizens expressed their concern and shared important advice following the incident.

One netizen commented, "Pag sa pusod talaga maliit chance ng survival," highlighting how jellyfish stings to the navel area significantly lower chances of survival.

Another emphasized first aid measures, writing, "Rinse with vinegar … Vinegar helps stop the stingers from firing more venom."

Some speculated about the type of jellyfish involved, with one simply stating, "Box Jelly Fish," referring to one of the most dangerous species known for its fatal stings.

This heartbreaking event serves as a reminder of the unseen dangers in open waters and the importance of proper safety measures.

Authorities urge all beachgoers to stay vigilant and for establishments to clearly inform guests about potential marine hazards.
