The body of independent mayoral candidate Orlando San Luis Negrete was discovered lifeless in his residence on Tuesday afternoon.

The 80-year-old was found slouched on a sofa by relatives, after several days of no communication raised concern.
Authorities believe that Negrete had been deceased for approximately four days before his body was located.
The discovery came after members of the Mindanao militia—an organization of force multipliers led by Negrete—visited his home.

The group initiated the visit when their repeated attempts to reach him went unanswered.
Upon arrival, the team noticed a strong odor emanating from the property, prompting them to alert his family.
Relatives then entered the home and found Negrete unresponsive.
Local police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death.
As of now, no foul play has been officially confirmed, though the circumstances remain unclear.
Negrete, known for his involvement in local civic affairs and community defense initiatives, was a respected figure in his area.
