Three people were killed and at least ten others injured in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday night, April 23, 2025, in Barangay Fortune, Marikina City, ABS-CBN reported.

According to the Marikina Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Marikina DRRMO), the incident involved a trailer truck, an SUV, two jeepneys, and two sedans.
Initial findings suggest that the trailer truck failed to make it up a steep portion of the road, causing it to roll backward and crash into several vehicles.
The situation became even more dangerous when its container van toppled over, crushing some of the vehicles behind it.

“Base sa initial investigation po, itong 40 footer paakyat po siya sa steep part nitong kalsada. Unfortunately, parang hindi po kinaya at umatras po siya hanggang sa nag-siete po 'yung kanyang truck. 'Yung mga kasunod po niyang sasakyan ang naatrasan,” said Dave David, head of the Marikina DRRMO.
Rescue and retrieval operations, which lasted over six hours, involved teams from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), local government units, and volunteers. David described the situation as challenging.
“Kasi jeep mayroon tayong naipit na buhay at 'yun ang pinaka iningatan natin sa pagkuha. Successfully, thankfully nakuha natin siya nang maayos at nadala natin siya sa ospital,” he added.
“'Yung live victim po na female ay ipit na ipit po talaga siya,” said SFO1 Jerico Ian Arellano, team leader of BFP Marikina Special Rescue Force.
The last survivor pulled from the wreckage was a woman seated in front of one of the jeepneys.
Meanwhile, the jeepney driver, 53, was the last fatality recovered after responders used a crane and backhoe to lift the container van that had fallen on him.
Also among the deceased were a mother and her child riding in one of the sedans. The injured victims were taken to Amang Rodriguez Medical Center.

Still in other news, a 43-year-old rider of a motorcycle taxi was stabbed by the passenger who booked him for a ride. According to the report of Unang Balita of GMA Integrated News, the passenger was from Recto Ave. and asked the rider to bring him to the place where the stabbing incident happened.
