United Laboratories (Unilab) Group released a statement on Facebook on Thursday, April 10, to confirm the heartbreaking news.
In the statement, the pharmaceutical company sent its deepest condolences to those grieving over Que-Azcona’s passing.
“Our Deepest Sympathies. We at Unilab Group extend our heartfelt condolences on the untimely passing of Ms. Vivian Que-Azcona, President of Mercury Group of Companies.”

It also described the late businesswoman as “a visionary leader and a dedicated partner who has left an indelible mark on the Mercury Group of Companies, the healthcare industry, and the country.”
“Ms. Que-Azcona lived with purpose and passion, ensuring only the best healthcare is accessible to Filipinos. We are grateful for the longstanding partnership with the Mercury Group of Companies for 80 years and for the privilege of having worked alongside Ms. Que-Azcona, whose integrity and care for Filipinos have been an inspiration to those around her.”
It continued, “We believe her meaningful work uplifted millions of lives through the years, leaving a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are one with the Que and Azcona families, our partners at the Mercury Group of Companies, and all Filipinos who mourn her passing,” Unilab added.
University of Santo Tomas Pharmacy Dean and Philippine Phamacists Association, Inc. president Aleth Dacanay also confirmed the unfortunate news through the student publication The Varsitarian.
According to the publication, the businesswoman was a graduate of the UST Faculty of Pharmacy. She is the daughter of Mercury Drug founder Mariano Que and took the helm of the company in 1998.
