A man lost his life after drowning in the Daraitan River in Tanay, Rizal, on the afternoon of last Sunday.
In a report by ABS-CBN's 'TV Patrol,' the victim was identified as Eric Castañares.
On that day, the victim and his relatives were enjoying swimming in the river as they celebrated a family member's birthday.
According to the victim's family, they had some drinks, and after lunch, Castañares went swimming in the river alone.

By 3 PM, they were looking for Castañares, but he was nowhere to be found.
According to the victim's brother-in-law, they searched for the victim for an hour. Eventually, he was found by a kid who placed the body out of the water.
Additionally, a niece of the victim said a huge lump at the back of his uncle. They suspected that he slipped.
Castañares' family is grieving because what they thought was a happy family reunion turned into a nightmare because of his untimely passing.
Based on the information of Tanay PNP, another person drowned in the Daraitan river last year, and Castañares was the first drowning case for this year.
