Four BJMP officers of the Paranaque City Jail-Male Dormitory received recognition for having successfully prevented the attempt to rescue the Chinese inmate who was being transported back to jail from a court hearing.

What happened was that the BJMP van was ambushed on the Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) in a coordinated effort to free a Chinese inmate being transported after a court hearing.

A jail officer sustained a gunshot wound during the confrontation, but swift police action led to the arrest of six suspects, including two Chinese nationals, following the ambush.

Investigations revealed the ambush was a planned rescue of the Chinese inmate, who is allegedly the “boss” of a criminal syndicate involved in kidnapping, carnapping, and illegal firearms and drug traffick1ng.

Four Filipino individuals were allegedly hired for P25,000 each to assist in the inmate's escape and now face a string of charges, including frustrated and attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms and drug$.

The act of the BJMP jail officers was certainly worthy of recognition and the award that they received simply showed their dedication to their dangerous job.

In other news, a man drove his motorcycle into Taal Basilica, parked in front of the altar, and alarmed churchgoers with bizarre behavior. The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident following a formal complaint from the church. His girlfriend and parents claimed the behavior was completely out of character and expressed concern for his mental state. Authorities are investigating the incident and will conduct a mental health evaluation to determine the suspect’s condition.

Still in other news, a security guard ran amok in Cebu and was caught on video dragging a co-employee on the road. Based on the report of Frontline Pilipinas, it was past 12 a.m. on April 8, when shouts of a woman rang in the Uptown Area of Cebu City. Another security guard tried to help, and the woman was also trying to hold on to the man who was helping him. Policemen, particularly from the SWAT, arrived and pursued the suspect, and he was shot on the leg when he tried to charge at the responding officers.
