A man was fatally shot after being mistaken for a thief by his girlfriend’s grandfather during a visit to his girlfriend's home.

According to a report by Ian Cruz on GTV’s State of the Nation, the 36-year-old man was having a conversation with his girlfriend in the living room of her house when the incident occurred.
It’s unclear what happened next, but the man allegedly entered the woman’s bedroom, where her 83-year-old grandfather was asleep.
Startled awake, the grandfather allegedly mistook the man for a burglar and shot him. The victim died instantly.

Police arrested the elderly man, who is now facing charges of murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
However, his relatives refused media interviews, citing a spike in his blood pressure following the incident.
The girlfriend has not released any statement about the event.
Grieving family members insist the man was not a thief.
"Sino ngayon ang magpapakain sa akin ipinapatay ninyo ang apo ako," the victim’s grandmother said in anguish.
"Hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin. Wala silang awa."
While the man had previously been jailed, his family clarified it was not for theft.
They also stressed that he had no criminal record related to such offenses in their barangay.
The incident has left two families in pain—one mourning the loss of a loved one, the other dealing with the consequences of a tragic mistake.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV News, the 77-year-old male died while his 66-year-old wife suffered injuries. Reports also state that the 77-year-old male was identified as a manager at an agri-machinery company. Investigators say that the two were tailed by motorcycle-riding gunmen and when they got to a certain, they opened fire, fatally injuring the 77-year-old male and inflicting injuries to his wife.
