In a social media post shared on Monday evening, she conveyed the difficult circumstances surrounding her husband, former First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo, and their son, former Vice Governor Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo.

The former president disclosed that her husband is scheduled to undergo a complex surgical procedure in Singapore on April 7th.

This intervention is necessitated by an aortic anéurysm, a condition that previously required emergency intervention in 2007, during her presidency.

The upcoming surgery, described as “big,” will combine bypass and aortoplasty procedures, indicating the seriousness of his condition.

Adding to the family's concerns, their son, Mikey, recently underwent a successful operation on March 18th. He was diagnosed with stage one thyroid cancer.

The recovery process, while progressing favorably, remains a source of concern for the family.

Amidst these health-related challenges, the Arroyo family is also mourning the loss of Paowee Tantoco, the husband of their niece, Dina.

“This has been a difficult time for the family. First, my husband Mike's dissecting aortic aneurism that required an emergency repair in 2007 is expanding again, and he will have to undergo a big surgery, combining a bypass and an aortoplasty, on April 7 to avert another emergency,” Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo revealed in a statement.
“Then, our son Mikey's biopsy-revealed Stage One cancer of the thyroid gland, and he underwent surgery last March 18, thankfully, a successful one. Meanwhile, Paowee Tantoco, the husband of our niece Dina, who spent the first four years of her life in our home, passed away. I have been spending much time with my constituents in Pampanga because I will be leaving soon for Singapore for Mike's surgery. Please pray for my family,” the former president and now 2nd District Representative of Pampanga added.
