A 4-year-old girl in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, sustained six bites from a rabid dog that had strayed into their compound, according to a report by GMA Integrated News.

The girl's mother recounted that the dog unexpectedly entered their property and engaged in a fight with their other dogs.

When they attempted to chase it away, the dog refused to leave.

In the midst of the commotion, the young child fell, and at that moment, the aggressive dog attacked her, biting her six times.

The family wasted no time in seeking medical attention.

The child was immediately brought to a healthcare facility, where she received a series of anti-rabies vaccinations to prevent any potential infection.

Fortunately, she is reportedly doing better as of this writing.

Authorities later confirmed that the dog tested positive for rabies after being taken to Santa Barbara, Pangasinan, for examination.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by stray and unvaccinated animals, particularly those carrying infectious diseases such as rabies.

Local officials have since urged residents to ensure their pets are properly vaccinated and to remain cautious around stray animals.

Rabies is a deadly virus that affects the nervous system and is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.

However, timely vaccination and treatment can effectively prevent the disease from progressing.

Meanwhile, a female graduating criminology working student who works as a service crew of a large fast food chain died after her motorcycle collided with a pickup.
