A 62-year-old senior citizen tragically lost her life after being run over by a truck while crossing the road on her way to a hospital for a checkup.

The incident, captured in footage shared by Frontline Pilipinas, showed the elderly woman slowly making her way across the street before she was fatally struck.

According to the video, the victim passed in front of a truck, which may not have seen her.

The driver continued moving forward, unaware of the woman’s presence.

It was only when bystanders began shouting that the driver stopped and got out of the vehicle, discovering the victim.

PSSG Edwin Cruz of the Pasig City Police confirmed that the woman was declared dead on the spot.

The most serious injury she sustained was to her chest, which was allegedly crushed in the accident.

Authorities are now investigating the incident to determine whether negligence was involved and if any charges should be filed against the driver.

The tragic event has raised concerns about pedestrian safety, particularly for elderly individuals, and the need for stricter enforcement of road safety measures.

Many netizens expressed their condolences and called for more pedestrian-friendly infrastructures, such as clearer road markings, pedestrian signals, and stricter regulations for large vehicles in urban areas.

This heartbreaking accident serves as a reminder of the importance of road awareness for both drivers and pedestrians to prevent further loss of life.

Investigation showed that the pickup driven by a 23-year-old bank teller counterflowed.

In other news, an elderly man died after he and his wife were ambushed while travelling aboard their pickup truck along a national highway in Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur. According to a report by GMA Regional TV News, the 77-year-old male died while his 66-year-old wife suffered injuries. Reports also state that the 77-year-old male was identified as a manager at an agri-machinery company. Investigators say that the two were tailed by motorcycle-riding gunmen and when they got to a certain, they opened fire, fatally injuring the 77-year-old male and inflicting injuries to his wife.
