A 46-year-old taxi driver fell victim to a robber in Talisay, Cebu.

Caught on a dashcam, the suspect, who was wearing a cap, face mask, and gloves, boarded the taxi.

The man appeared uneasy while pretending to be busy on his mobile phone.

Moments later, he was seen reaching for something behind him, which turned out to be a handgun.

He then declared holdup then apologized right after to the taxi driver.

"Hold up to boss, ibigay mo sa akin ang pera bossing, sorry boss, pera lang ang akin kung 'di mo gustong mamatay," the robber said.

After committing the crime, the robber immediately got off the taxi.

In an exclusive interview by TV 5's 'Frontline Pilipinas,' the driver still couldn't continue working because of the incident.

He said, "Natakot talaga ako. Talagang ganun kapag tinutukan ka ng baril. Hindi naman biro-biro 'yung baril na tinututok sa'yo. Kasi mayroon akong mga anak, maliliit pa."

The taxi driver's 1,500 was taken from him. Meanwhile, authorities are still searching for the robber.

In the Philippines, a robber who points a gun at a victim and takes all their money commits robbery with intimidation or violence under the Revised Penal Code.

Specifically, this falls under Article 294, which covers robbery with violence or intimidation of persons. If the robber used a firearm to intimidate but did not fire it, the penalty is reclusion temporal, which ranges from 12 years and 1 day to 20 years in prison.

If the robber fired the gun but did not kill or injure the victim, the penalty may increase. In cases where the victim was injured or killed, the penalty may escalate to reclusion perpetua, or life imprisonment, and in the past, it could have led to the death penalty, though the latter is currently abolished.

Additionally, the court may order the return of the stolen money or the payment of damages to the victim.
