Faced with the threat, the woman surrendered her bag to the assailant, who then fled the scene.
Following the robbery, the victim sought assistance from the store's vendor, who provided refuge inside the establishment.
According to Nicole Andrade, the victim's sister, the stolen bag contained sentimental jewelry given by their mother, two mobile phones, and approximately 3,000 Philippine pesos.
Upon reporting the incident to the police, the suspect's identity was quickly established due to the clear images captured by the CCTV system.
"May ipinakitang pictures ng mga wanted, mayroon doon isang lalaki na kamukhang-kamukha niya talaga at namukhaan din ng kapatid ko," Nicole stated.
Authorities revealed that the suspect is known to them, with a record of multiple prison stints.
Despite the rapid identification and subsequent location of the suspect's hideout, the victim's belongings were not recovered.
Reports indicate that the mobile phones had already been sold. Nevertheless, Nicole expressed relief that her sister was unharmed during the ordeal.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers faced by individuals in public spaces, particularly during late hours.
It also highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in apprehending repeat offenders.
