The tragic incident occurred in December when the woman was denied permission to bring her dog on an international flight due to missing documentation.
Authorities state that the woman, who has not been named, was informed by Latam Airlines that she could not board her flight to Colombia with her 9-year-old schnauzer, Tywinn, without the required rabies vaccination and health certificate from a veterinarian.
Surveillance footage showed her speaking with an airline agent for 15 minutes while holding the dog before entering a nearby restroom.

Less than 20 minutes later, she exited and proceeded through security to board her flight.
A janitor later discovered Tywinn’s lifeless body inside a trash bag in a restroom stall.
The dog’s companion vest, collar, rabies tag, travel bag, and a bone-shaped tag bearing the woman's name and phone number were also found discarded.
Prior to this, the janitor had noticed the woman cleaning up spilled dog food and water in the stall.
A necropsy confirmed that Tywinn had drowned, and authorities identified him via his implanted microchip.
The Orlando Police Department classified the act as intentional and resulting in a "cruel and unnecessary death."
Following an investigation, U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed the woman had traveled from Florida to Bogotá, Colombia, before continuing to Ecuador. She was later arrested upon her return to the U.S. and released on a $5,000 (Php 286,675) bail.
