The tragic event has recently revealed a complex and devastating situation.

According to a report by iFM Bacolod 943, the prolonged negotiation preceded the fatal outcome, underscoring the severity of the circumstances.

The incident, which occurred in Purok Camia, Barangay Poblacion, involved Police Master Sgt. Larry Junio, 40, and Maicah Redil, 33.

Reports indicate that Sgt. Junio, assigned to Iloilo City Police Station 5, and Redil were involved in a relationship, despite both having existing families.

The situation escalated on the day of the incident, with neighbors reporting a heated argument hours before the fatal shots were fired.

According to Roda Manzano, Redil's relative, the couple's dispute intensified in the afternoon.

Manzano recounted hearing loud altercations, with Redil reportedly refusing to return Junio's keys. The situation culminated at approximately 7:42 p.m., when gunshots were heard.

The immediate aftermath was chaotic, with Redil's 10-year-old child running for help, carrying a younger sibling, and reporting that their mother had been shot.

Law enforcement arrived, engaging in a negotiation with Sgt. Junio that lasted over an hour, with his relatives also attempting to intervene.

Witnesses reported hearing Redil's cries for help during the negotiation.

The situation reached a critical point, leading Valladolid Mayor Enrique “Bebot” Miravalles to authorize a forced entry into the residence.

Upon entry, officers encountered resistance, with Sgt. Junio's leg obstructing the door. They then heard the other police officers saying that Junio was already “dead.”

Both Junio and Redil were transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Still in other news, a caretaker of a chapel is now the primary suspect in the killing of a 13-year-old girl in Leyte. In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB, authorities say they’re still waiting for autopsy results that will determine whether or not the girl has been molested. In the same interview, the Leyte Provincial Director said that the suspect, who reportedly lives near the chapel, allegedly has fled the place. The said suspect is said to be also facing previous molestation charges in Cebu and in Biliran.
