A Grade 8 student in Pototan, Iloilo, was allegedly assaulted by his teacher, an incident that was caught on camera, GMA News reported.

The footage reportedly shows the teacher pulling the student’s hair and aggressively pointing her finger at him.

According to the student’s mother, the incident began when the teacher asked the student to fetch a rock for a tarpaulin.

However, when the student threw the rock, a splinter allegedly hit the teacher’s eye.

Despite the student apologizing, the teacher still allegedly attacked him, leaving wounds on his face.

Following the assault, the student became ashamed to return to school.

Attempts to get statements from the school principal, the teacher, and Department of Education (DepEd) officials were unsuccessful, as they all declined interviews regarding the matter.

The principal later stated that the teacher apologized for the incident and assured it would not happen again.

However, the student’s family remains firm in their decision to pursue legal action against the teacher, whose name has not yet been publicized as of this report.

As of now, the DepEd has not released an official statement regarding the incident, and the student continues to stay away from school due to fear and trauma, albeit, it confirmed that the incident has already reached their agency.
