Vincent John Bornales, the owner of these two dogs, expressed his distress, as his pets are confined within his property in Barangay Poblacion Ilaud.
He stated that he discovered the arrows lodged in his dogs while preparing to feed his 14 pets.
Fortunately, after receiving veterinary care, the two dogs are recovering.
Bornales has reported the incident to the barangay officials, though he has not yet filed a police report.
It was also discovered that Marielle Caroleen Balintongog's dog was also a victim, with an arrow lodged in its side.
Balintongog admitted that she previously allowed her dog to roam the vicinity, but emphasized that it was not aggressive and did not chase people.
Following the incident, she has decided to keep her dog restrained.
Police are now investigating the possibility that a single individual is responsible for the attacks.
“May suspek sila pero hindi pa sigurado na siya talaga. Follow-up pa ng intel kung may CCTV near the area,” stated Staff Sergeant Ivan Christian Saludares, an investigator with the Zarraga Municipal Police Station.
A barangay official noted that the arrows found in the three dogs appear to be identical.
Barangay Poblacion Ilaud Chairman Virgilio Solito, Jr. stated that they will summon the suspected individual.
The barangay will also implement stricter measures to control stray dogs in the area.
This series of incidents echoes a similar case in Murcia, Negros Occidental, this past February, where two dogs were also victims of arrow attacks.
One of those dogs, named “Tiktok,” sustained five arrow wounds and was found in a weakened state by its owner.
This pattern of animal cruelty has caused alarm and prompted calls for increased vigilance and enforcement of animal welfare laws.
