A 74-year-old man named Angelito Escarte lost his life after being struck by a motorcycle while carefully crossing the pedestrian lane.
The incident took place in Barangay Vasra, Quezon City, as the victim was on his way to church.
According to a report by TV5's 'Frontline Pilipinas,' the suspect was a rider for a motorcycle taxi company and had a female passenger at the time of the tragic accident.
The impact was so strong that the victim was thrown several feet, along with the rider and his backriding passenger.

The rider stood to check on his elderly victim while his backride went to the side of the road.
The barangay quickly responded to the accident, and he was brought to the hospital by ambulance.
While police authorities immediately arrested the motorcycle rider who hit the victim.
At the hospital, the victim's condition became critical. He was also brought by his family to a different hospital, but he unfortunately passed away.
In an interview with TV 5, the victim's son, Angelo Escarte said his father was very strict in terms of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The suspect was already charged with homicide and his motorcycle was impounded. The family of the victim was also looking into filing a complaint against the suspect's motorcycle taxi company.
Meanwhile, the suspect's backride didn't make it to her licensure exam because of the incident.
