A woman named Delia was overjoyed to be engaged to her French fiancé and eagerly looked forward to their wedding.
The couple was set to exchange vows on July 6, 2024, but their plans came to an unexpected halt.
Five months before their wedding day, Delia applied for a copy of her CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage) from the Philippine Statistics Office.
To her shock, the document revealed that she was already listed as married, forcing the postponement of her much-anticipated wedding.

On her CENOMAR, it showed that Delia was already married back on June 24, 2011 in Pasay City.
Based on the name indicated on her CENOMAR, the name of her husband is the name of her sibling's boyfriend. Her sibling is a member of the LGBT community.
Thus, Delia concluded that it was her brother who used her name without permission and got married.
According to Delia, she already confronted her brother about it, and he admitted that he indeed used her name to be married.
According to a volunteer lawyer, Delia's brother can be charged with falsification. Additionally, the solemnizing officer may also be charged for officiating the wedding since same-sex marriage is not allowed in the Philippines.
In a special report by Emil Sumangilin '24 Oras,' the solemnizing officer of the wedding said he officiated the wedding since all necessary documents were completely submitted to him.
Meanwhile, PSA is not conducting an investigation about the issue. They will also help Delia cancel her Certificate of Marriage.
