Four workers who were installing solar street lights in Cagayan de Oro City were electr0cuted after accidentally coming into contact with a live wire.

One of them later succumbed to his injuries and died.

According to a report from GMA Regional TV, also covered by EJ Gomez on Unang Balita, the tragic incident took place on Saturday in Barangay Bulua.

A video taken from the scene captured rescuers loading one of the victims into an ambulance while others, who also suffered electr0cution, remained at the site.

One could see that one of the men sustained severe burns.

Authorities confirmed that all four victims were rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, one of them did not survive.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Evan Viñas, spokesperson for the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), stated that the accident was caused by the live wire.

"'Yun talaga ang sanhi, 'yung live wire. So siguro hindi nila nasunod ang mga safety precautions ng kanilang trabaho. So 'yun ang sanhi ng insidente," Viñas explained.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, emphasizing the importance of strict safety protocols when working near electrical lines to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

In a separate report, a construction worker also ended up being injured after he held a grounded metal.
