According to police, the victim was facing charges for frustrated h*micide case at the time of his death.

In a report by GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon on Wednesday, authorities identified the victim as Eluiterio Malong, a resident of Barangay San Vicente East.

According to his relatives, Malong had just stepped out of his house to go to the plantation when gunshots rang out.

At the crime scene, police recovered six spent bullet shells from a .45 caliber firearm.

However, Malong’s family remained tight-lipped about any potential enemies who might have been responsible for the attack.

Investigators are considering revenge or a past conflict as possible motives.

“As to the background check ng ating victim, may mga na-file po na case against doon po sa victim natin. May ongoing po siyang hearing for frustrated h*micide sa ating MTC (Municipal Trial Court),” said Police Major Katelyn May Awingan, chief of the Asingan Police Station.
“As of now, ang pinakamataas ang probability of motive ng pagpatay po dito sa victim ay revenge,” the officer added.
