A man sustained serious injuries after he was struck with an ax by his brother-in-law in Barangay Jantianon, Amlan, Negros Oriental.

The violent altercation occurred past 6 p.m. on February 23, 2025, following an escalating conflict between the two.
According to a report by Brigada News Philippines, the incident stemmed from ongoing tension between the victim and the suspect.
The victim allegedly made repeated innuendos or "parinig" directed at his brother-in-law, which eventually led to the hacking attack.

The suspect revealed that earlier that evening, the victim had invited him to join a drinking session with some friends.
However, the suspect declined the offer. This refusal seemingly aggravated the victim, who then began making remarks suggesting that the suspect and his spouse should no longer come home.
The suspect further claimed that this was not the first time the victim acted this way, especially when under the influence of alcohol.
He stated that the victim had a habit of making indirect remarks that created tension.
At one point, the victim stepped out of the house, leading the suspect to believe that he was about to pick up a rock to attack him.
Acting preemptively, the suspect grabbed an ax and struck the victim before he could retaliate.
Authorities are currently investigating the case, and the suspect may face legal consequences for his actions.
The incident highlights the dangers of unresolved family disputes and alcohol-induced conflicts.
