The suspect, 27 years old, was reportedly intoxicated after returning from a cockfighting event when the violent altercation occurred.

According to a News5 report, the suspect began acting aggressively upon arriving home.

Witnesses stated that he started hacking household items, including a hose, which prompted his younger brother to intervene and call him out.

This confrontation quickly escalated, and in a fit of rage, the suspect allegedly turned his aggression toward his younger brother, striking him with a machete and inflicting a serious head injury.

Authorities later revealed that the suspect harbored a personal grudge against the victim, suggesting that this may have contributed to the attack.

“Pinagtataga niya raw ‘yung hose ng tubig nila sa bahay, tinaga rin ‘yung blade. Sinita siya ng nakababatang kapatid niya. Nag-aamok na raw sa bahay. E ang nangyari, tinaga siya (biktima). Galit pala (ang suspek). May namumuong galit na sa kanyang kapatid,” said Staff Sgt. Flitcher Palanca of the Bontoc Police.

However, the exact nature of their dispute remains unclear.

The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment, while local authorities launched an investigation into the incident.
