Suspek umano sa pananamatala sa stepdaughter, binaril ang sariling ulo pero hindi tumagos ang bala

A 27-year-old suspect was arrested in Naga City, Cebu for allegedly abusing his stepdaughter.

The suspect has reportedly been committing the crime against the 16-year-old victim since she was 14.

According to a report by Alan Domingo on GMA Regional TV's 'Balitang Bisdak,' the arrest was carried out by the National Bureau of Investigation - Central Visayas Regional Office (NBI-CEVRO).

NBI National Director Jaime Santiago said they will provide the suspect with a lawyer for his extra-judicial statement after admitting to the crime against his stepdaughter.

The arrest was initiated because the victim told her grandfather what her stepdad had been doing to her for the past 2 years.

However, during his arrest, the suspect had a chance to go to his house and shot himself using a caliber 22.

Surprisingly, as shown on the suspect's X-Ray, the bullet didn't penetrate his skull and just left a wound on his forehead.

"Umamin siya na he tried to commit suicide. Nagbaril sa sarili using caliber .22, I don't kung ano 'yun paltik. Mabuti hindi tumagos sa kaniyang bungo," said NBI Director Santiago.

The other two suspects were first arrested by the police, and the victim's stepbrother was arrested after over a year.
