Estudyante, natangayan ng P18K na gadget ng nagpanggap na rider ng delivery app

- A student fell victim to a scammer who pretended that he was a rider of a delivery app

- The scammer was able to take P18,000-worth gadget of a student on Jan. 22 in Sta. Ana, Maynila

- According to the report of ABS-CBN, the student would use the money from the sale of the secondhand tablet to pay for his tuition

- The scammer pretended to be a buyer and said that he would also be the one who would book the rider

A scammer was able to take a student's P18K-worth secondhand tablet by pretending to be a delivery app rider.

According to the report of ABS-CBN, the student was trying to sell his secondhand tablet in order to use the proceeds from the sale for his tuition fee.

He recounted that through an online messaging app, he was able to talk to the suspect who pretended to be a buyer, and that he would also be the one who would book the rider.

“Hindi siya pumapayag na kami ang mag-book so ang nangyari po is siya po yung nag-book [ng rider]. Nanghingi siya ng details ko, contact number, contact person… address,” said the victim.

After giving the details, the suspect rider arrived, and told him that the buyer will make payment as soon as he leaves.

“Sabi po sa ‘kin ni rider na babayaran niya po yung item once na nakaalis na po siya. Pero ang nangyari, nung nakaalis na po siya, yung rider, bigla na pong parang di na po masyado nagcha-chat sa akin si suspek pero nag-usap po kami ni rider,” the victim narrated.
“Nag-text na po (ako) kay rider na wag na po sanang ibigay. Ibalik na lang sa akin. Pero sabi nung rider naman kuno is manghihingi sana sa akin ng pang-gas,” he said.

Worse, the victim actually gave P400 and after that, the suspect no longer reached out.
