Ilang customer sa Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, nabiktima umano ng lechon package scam

- A number of customers from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, fell victims to an alleged lechon package scam

- According to the report of GMA News, one of the alleged victims, Leezahnette Tahum, joined a "paluwagan" where lechon packages were the benefits instead of money

- She joined the said "paluwagan" in November 2024 where she got one slot for P5,000 and eventually purchased more slots

- Later, she sold the said slots to other people for P6,500 and where some of the packages were initially delivered by the owner, Socorro Marie Delrio Marual, the other remaining slots were not delivered because her child got sick

Several customers in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental fell victim to an alleged lechon package scam.

Based on the report of GMA News, one of the alleged victims, Leezahnette Tahum, joined the “paluwagan” in November 2024.

The “paluwagan” offers its “investors” lechon packages called "Pak Meals" instead of money.

Leezahnette initially invested P5,000 for one slot and later on bought more slots, which resulted in a total investment of P240,000.

Later, she sold the other slots for P6,500.

Initially, the packages were delivered by Socorro Marie Delrio Marual, the owner of the paluwagan.

However, during the Sinulog Festival in Kabankalan, there were about 16 lechon packages that were allegedly not delivered.

Socorro denied being a scammer and said that she was not able to deliver them because her child got sick.

She also promised to pay the victims.

News, photos or videos that arouse the interest of netizens would often go viral on social media, due to the attention netizens give them. These viral posts appeal to the emotions of netizens, and in rare cases, such could also happen to ordinary people, making them very relatable.

In other news, a mother and her two kids were discovered lifeless by their neighbors in Naga City, Cebu. All three bore similar deep wounds on their necks, which might have caused their untimely demise. The suspect, who was later caught by authorities, is the live-in partner of one of the victims and the father of the two other victims. Authorities say the suspect even tried to escape but they shot him in the knee to immobilize and arrest him.

Meanwhile, a Chinese New Year celebration in Binondo turned into a tragedy when fire broke out on the 35th floor of a condominium. The incident happened on Wednesday early morning. According to the investigation of the Manila Fire District, two Filipino househelpers died in the fire. Around P4,500,000 was the estimated cost of the destruction.
