A man from Sual, Pangasinan, was hit on the head with a stone and a pipe by someone he knew.
Reports say the victim was standing by the roadside when he saw the suspect and greeted him with "Happy New Year."
Instead of responding, the suspect grabbed a stone and pipe and struck the victim on the head.
In a report by GMA 7's '24 Oras,' police said both men were drunk at the time, but the reason behind the attack remains unclear.

They also added that allegedly, the suspect is known in their place as someone who'd always seek conflict among members of their community whenever he's under the influence of alcohol.
The suspect was already arrested, and there was no comment yet about the crime he committed.
