A fisherman from Ragay, Camarines Sur, lost one of his hands in an explosion.
In a report by GMA 7's 'Balitanghali,' the fisherman's 22-year-old son, also injured, said a plastic bottle containing a chemical called “bigas-bigas” exploded in front of them.
The chemical, often used to create noise during New Year celebrations, is also linked to illegal fishing practices.
The fisherman is still in the hospital recovering, while his son is now out of danger despite his injuries.
