A 13-year-old boy suffered severe injuries to his hands when the firecrackers he was holding suddenly exploded.

A responding medic explained that the boy had been picking up unexploded firecrackers in Taytay, Rizal.

In a report by GMA 7's '24 Oras,' both his hands were injured, along with one of his eyes.

He also sustained other injuries, including a wound on his stomach.

The 13-year-old boy was still under observation in East Avenue Medical Center.

According to the friend of the boy's mom, the explosion was so loud that it sounded like a grenade.
