- "Cardo," an aspin in Davao is fighting for its life after it was stabbed several times by a neighbor

- The owner of the other dog did not approve of it and went on to stab Cardo three times

A 4-year-old aspin, Cardo, was stabbed three times by a neighbor who did not like how the dog went to his home to mate with his female dog.

Based on the report of ABS-CBN, Ronald Lunar, a veterinary surgeon, was informed by a fellow doctor, and who then helped Cardo.

"What happened is that may saksak siya sa rib na area that's why na-torn yung diaphragm. So yung mga intestine niya, yung liver niya, pumasok na sa diaphragm, sa chest niya, siyempre may butas. It's about 5 inches ang butas sa ribs. Tapos makita yung heart," he told ABS-CBN.

The surgery at the Davao Emergency Veterinary Hospital was successful and Cardo made it through the first critical 24 hours.

However, the dog is still not eating and is being treated with antibiotics and pain medications.

"Ang hirap kasing magsabi ng recovering kasi sa human nga, ang multiple stabs, ang recovery is really low, but sa kanya, I think Cardo is fighting. Naga-fight naman siya," said Lunar.

Animal Rescue Rehabilitation and Fostering already filed a complaint against the suspect.
