A bamboo makeshift bridge in Davao Oriental was destroyed by strong water currents.
Two students and a man helping them cross were on the bridge when it collapsed.
The man was pinned against a large rock, while one student managed to hold onto a bamboo shoot.
The other student was swept away by the strong current but was thankfully carried to a shallow part of the river.

In a report in GMA 7's 'Unang Balita,' according to a teacher, they were with the kids when it happened. They always take the same route and cross the same bridge every school day, but the current just abnormally became strong that day.
Because of what had happened, they're wishing for a sturdy bridge to be built above that river so they could secure theyir everyday safety.

However, a construction worker saw them and called them out; that's when they tried to flee from the scene and jumped into a creek.
