Alice Guo has finally revealed the reason behind the smiles that were seen of her in a series of photos that came out during and following her arrest.

The dismissed mayor said that her smiles noted that she was at ease with DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos at PNP Chief Rommel Marbil.

Earlier, Alice has revealed that she has been receiving death threats, and was heard seeking the help of Sec. Abalos when she saw him in Indonesia.

Alice, in a video shared by Manila Bulletin, was seen boarding the private jet that took her back to the Philippines.

Secretary Benhur Abalos was also seen shaking hands with some people before boarding the said jet with Guo.

Alice Leal Guo is the Mayor of the Municipality of Bamban, Tarlac. She won as mayor during the national elections in 2022. She became known nationwide after her name was dragged into the ongoing Senate investigations regarding Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or (POGO) and the alleged proliferation of illegal immigrants. Her name has been the subject of many online memes since then.

When she met DILG Sec. Benhur Abalos in Indonesia Thursday, September 5, Guo immediately issued a plea for help. She was overheard in a video shared by the Philippine Star, saying that she has a death threat. One can clearly hear the exchange of words between Sec. Abalos and Guo.

Earlier, Guo was turned over to the Philippine officials on Thursday. The officials were led by Interior Sec. Benhur Abalos and PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil. The video shared by ABS-CBN News showed Guo wearing a white striped shirt. Abalos mentioned that they and the Indonesian government have discussed the matter and a possible cooperation between the two countries.
