Major Allan De Castro, the prime suspect in the disappearance of Miss Grand Philippines 2023 contestant and public school teacher Catherine Camilon, has confessed to a romantic relationship with the missing woman. The revelation came during an official meeting with PNP Chief General Benjamin Acorda Jr. at Camp Crame, where De Castro admitted to having an illicit relationship with Camilon.
CIDG director Romeo Camarat disclosed the details during an interview with GMA's 24 Oras news program, stating, "Siya po ay iniharap natin kay Chief PNP kaninang umaga and he admitted na mayroon silang illicit relationship with Miss Camilon." This marks the first time the suspect has openly acknowledged any involvement in the case.
When questioned about his connection to Camilon's disappearance, De Castro chose to remain silent, invoking his right. However, he offered an apology to Chief PNP for implicating the entire PNP organization in the matter. "Nag-sorry siya kay Chief PNP for dragging the PNP organization, na nadadamay ang organization. So the Chief PNP naman accepted his apology," stated Caramat.
PNP Chief General Benjamin Acorda Jr. has issued a directive for all efforts to be exerted in locating Miss Camilon, whether she is alive or deceased. The charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention have been filed against Major Allan De Castro, as authorities intensify their investigation into the mysterious disappearance of the beauty pageant contestant and dedicated educator.
