During his guest appearance on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, the actor explained that he continues to accept qüeer roles as long as they offer compelling narratives and contribute positively to his career.
"As long as maganda 'yung story, ikagaganda 'to ng career ko."
Despite playing several LGBT+ characters throughout his career, Martin said he is not worried about being typecast. According to him, what matters is giving each role a unique interpretation instead of repeating the same performance.

"I see to it na bawat gay role na ginagawa ko, iba-iba naman eh. So hindi ka mata-typecast as long as hindi pare-parehas 'yung binibigay mo."
Martin's latest project is the upcoming Cinemalaya film Tayo Lang ang Nakakaalam, where he takes on another qüeer character. However, he revealed that this portrayal differs significantly from his previous performances, describing the role as that of a "sobrang restrained" gay man.
The actor also addressed the long-running speculation surrounding his sexuality, saying public gossip and assumptions no longer have any impact on him after spending 16 years in the entertainment industry.
According to Martin, he has become desensitized to the issue because the rumors have persisted since he first entered show business. Rather than responding to every comment or speculation, he chooses to stay focused on his work and let his performances speak for themselves.
"Kahit nga mag-gossip or imbistigahan pa nila 'ko, hindi ako na-a-affect kasi simula nung pumasok ako sa showbiz, which is 16 years ago, hanggang ngayon may ganun, parang manhid ka na."
"I don't care."
Martin's remarks reflect his confidence in separating his personal life from the characters he portrays on screen. For him, accepting diverse roles is part of his growth as an actor, while public opinion remains secondary to delivering authentic performances. With Tayo Lang ang Nakakaalam set to premiere under Cinemalaya, audiences will once again see him explore another challenging character—one that he says is unlike any qüeer role he has played before.
