In a video shared by ABS-CBN News on X, the actress thanked the people who believed in her and reflected on the deeper message behind the award-winning film.
She first expressed her gratitude to the organizers and fellow nominees, saying it was already an honor to be recognized alongside many talented artists.
Maris then opened up about accepting the role in Sunshine, saying she immediately understood the responsibility that came with portraying a story centered on abortion in the Philippines.

"When I heard this, Sunshine, during the pandemic, I knew right away that it's gonna be a big responsibility. Talking about abortion in this country is not gonna be easy. But all of my fears and doubts faded away because I know how many of you are hurting."
The Kapamilya star also thanked the film's director for trusting her with the lead role and for creating a story that speaks to many women.
"Thank you so much for creating this really beautiful story, for inspiring so many Filipinas, young women, and for believing in me that I could be Sunshine."
She did not forget to acknowledge the cast, crew, gymnastics coaches, acting coach Sir J. Cruz, Miss Dana Savio, and everyone who helped prepare her for the physically demanding role. Maris said the project became very special to her because of the people she worked with throughout the production.
The actress also reflected on her character, Sunshine Sanjay, describing her as a young girl with big dreams whose future suddenly changed because of life's challenges.
Toward the end of her speech, Maris delivered the message that resonated with many viewers as she dedicated her award to women and those who continue to fight despite hardships.
"This award is for all of the sunshine in this world. Sila 'yung mga kababaihan sa karapatan nila sa sarili nilang katawan."
She then left everyone with an inspiring reminder.
"If you get tired, try drown out the noise and remember who you are."
Her speech concluded with a short but powerful line in Filipino that summed up the message she wanted to share.
"Sa lahat ng nadapa, bangon lang."
