Ogie Alcasid clarified that Regine Velasquez is not yet retiring despite recent speculation surrounding her future in music, according to reports by ABS-CBN Entertainment.

The issue started in March after the Asia’s Songbird told Billboard Philippines that her upcoming concert in October, which marks her 40th year in show business, would be her last large-scale solo concert. Her statement immediately sparked concerns among longtime fans who feared she was preparing to say goodbye to performing.
During the press conference for Ogie’s upcoming Daddyokie Father’s Day concert, the OPM icon finally addressed the rumors and assured supporters that his wife is not leaving the entertainment industry anytime soon.
“Hindi pa sya magreretire,” Ogie clarified, as cited by ABS-CBN Entertainment and Inquirer.net.

The singer-songwriter also shared how emotional the topic has become for Regine, especially because performing has always been one of her greatest passions.
“It was emotional. This is her love, aside from me,” he said.
He then recalled a touching moment they shared while watching a Coldplay concert in London. According to him, Regine became emotional while taking in the atmosphere of the show.
“Parang feeling ko, in her mind, sabi niya, mami-miss ko 'to,” Ogie shared. “Pero sabi ko nga sa inyo, I don’t think she is going to stop, lalo pa ngayon. Ang galing-galing pa rin nya.”
The veteran performer previously opened up about the anxiety she has been experiencing during live performances. In a post on X in February, she admitted that going on stage has recently become a struggle for her.
“Lately, every single performance for me is such a struggle, even doing ASAP. It used to excite me, a source of joy, but now it gives me so much anxiety,” she revealed.
Despite the challenges, Ogie said Regine remains passionate about music and is now focused on preparing for her highly anticipated FINALE concert scheduled on October 17 and 18 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Regine Velasquez remains one of the most respected and influential artists in the Philippine music scene. Dubbed Asia’s Songbird, she first gained national attention after winning Ang Bagong Kampeon in 1984. She later launched a successful recording career with her debut album, paving the way for decades of chart-topping success.
