“It was easy for me because everything was laid out on a silver platter. Parang ayun na, sige na,” Eric shared.

He described how opportunities came more naturally because of his father’s stature in the entertainment industry.

However, he emphasized that the same privilege also came with heavy expectations from the public.

“However, may pressure rin kasi parang 'Ah, anak lang 'yan ni Dolphy. Hindi niya mapapantayan daddy niya,' which is like parang kailangan ko pang galingan. So, parang nagkaroon ng point na ganon,” he explained.

To avoid constant comparisons, Eric deliberately stayed away from comedy at the beginning of his career.

“That's why, hindi talaga ako nag-comedy. It was more of like, I went around the matinee idol tapos nag-aral ako. That's why kasi para maiba. I want it to be away from that,” he said.

Despite his efforts to pursue a different path, Eric eventually found himself drawn into comedy projects, partly influenced by his roots. He later appeared in films such as I Will Survive, Crying Ladies, Bahay Kubo, and Nobody, Nobody But Juan.

Beyond acting, Eric also made his mark behind the camera. He directed several films, including Pahiram ng Isang Umaga, Hihintayin Kita sa Langit, Pusong Mamon, and Langit sa Piling Mo, which earned recognition both locally and internationally.
