Jake Cuenca opens up on his 'sobriety' journey: "Drinking was always an escape"

"I find myself now, it's my sixth year of sobriety," Jake shared during the interview. He explained that for a long time, alcohol was how he dealt with the world. "Drinking was always an escape... They like me because I'm the party guy. They like me because I'm the wild guy."

However, life threw several challenges his way that made him rethink his lifestyle. Jake mentioned going through a painful breakup right around the time the pandemic hit. Instead of turning back to old habits, he saw it as a moment to test his own strength.

"It's when you prove to yourself that, you know, you can do it," he said.

Coach Pia was clearly moved by his story, noting the incredible confidence Jake now has over his life. On social media, she expressed how proud she was of the actor for choosing to thrive instead of just escaping.

"Lahat tayo may pinagdadaanan," Coach Pia wrote. She added that just like Jake, anyone can change the direction of their life if they find the right clarity and strength.
