Drag artist Misua, who was set to compete in the fourth season of Drag Race Philippines, has passed away, according to the show’s production company. She died while production for the new season was still underway.

World of Wonder confirmed the news in a Facebook statement released Friday.

"We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2," the company said.

The cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

The production team also described the impact Misua had on those around her.

"She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed," the statement read.

The company added that filming has been paused to prioritize the well-being of those involved.

"We have paused production to care for and support our cast and crew during this incredibly difficult time," the company said.

It also shared that it remains in contact with Misua’s loved ones, who have requested privacy.

"Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her," the statement added.

Casting for the fourth season opened in January, though a premiere date has yet to be announced. Since debuting in 2022, Drag Race Philippines has helped bring drag artistry into the mainstream, offering contestants opportunities in entertainment and advocacy.

Past winners include Precious Paula Nicole, Captivating Katkat, and Maxie Andreison. The franchise also expanded with the spin-off Slaysian Royale, where Filipino queens competed with other Asian drag performers. Filipino drag artist Brigiding emerged as its winner.

Misua’s passing has left fans and the drag community mourning the loss of a rising talent.
