Former beauty queen and television host Miriam Quiambao candidly revisited one of the most painful chapters of her life, recounting the moment she learned her marriage was over. In a recent vlog interview with Karen Davila, she shared how the shocking call came while she was in Manila for a hosting job, even though she was already living in Hong Kong after tying the knot.

“Nakatanggap na lang ako ng tawag sa ex ko, sabi niya, ‘I just came from a meeting with my lawyers and I want a divorce.’ It shocked me.”

She described how the sudden announcement left her confused and blindsided.

“Pag balik ko sa Hong Kong, we were in the kitchen, tinanong ko siya, ‘Is there someone else?’”

She revealed that her husband admitted falling in love with a younger Brazilian model.

“He was thinking na he will just write me a check and send me home.”

Quiambao said she felt hurt by what she perceived as a shallow view of marriage.

Before the separation, she admitted their relationship had already been struggling.

“Doon ko na-realize na hindi pala yung mga worldly dreams ko ang what will fill me up.”

She explained that despite material comfort, she felt empty and eventually fell into depression.

“Naghahanap ako ngayon ng connection.”

She recounted trying various spiritual practices while dealing with loneliness and homesickness abroad.

After returning to the Philippines, her condition worsened.

“So na-depress talaga ako.”

She recalled losing her sense of purpose and even questioning her will to live.

“But the depression was so bad.”

Quiambao shared that she was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder after seeking professional help.

Eventually, healing began when she rediscovered her faith.

“In that (previous) relationship, I really felt rejected, I felt worthless.”

She credited Anthony Pangilinan for helping her find spiritual direction and gradually move forward.

Miriam Quiambao, a former beauty queen and Miss Universe 1999 first runner-up, gained fame for her poise and charisma on the international stage. She later married Ardy Roberto in Tagaytay, blending their families as Ardy has an adopted son, Joshua, from his late wife Tingting. Miriam has since focused on family life, balancing motherhood and personal projects while remaining a respected figure in Philippine entertainment and pageantry.
