Actress Ashley Ortega opened up about her bold transformation for her role in Apoy sa Dugo during the March 24 episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, revealing that her unconventional look was a deliberate choice to better portray her character.

When asked by Boy Abunda how she stands out among other antagonists, Ashley immediately pointed to her physical change.
“Physically, I changed my look also,” she said.
She revealed her decision to get micro bangs for the role.

The Kapuso actress acknowledged the mixed reactions online, with some netizens criticizing her appearance.
“Ang dami ngang nagsasabi na ang pangit daw pala ng look ko,” she shared.
She then clarified that the criticism actually aligns with her intention for the character.
“But that's the point,” Ashley said.
“That's the point and that's the goal.” She emphasized.
She further explained that her role requires her to appear unusual and emotionally unstable, which influenced her decision to embrace a less traditionally appealing look.
Ashley also admitted that the change was a significant departure from her personal style.
“Ako naman talaga, personally Tito Boy, you know, I'm a clean girl, soft girl, aesthetic girl,” she described her usual image.
She added that she wanted to shed that perception for this particular project.
“Gusto ko kasi talaga matanggal 'yon,” Ashley explained.
“Matanggal talaga 'yung image na 'yon sa akin when I do this show.”
Impressed by her dedication, Boy Abunda commended her commitment to her craft.
“Yan ang artista!” he applauded her.
